What is a drink coaster?
A coaster, drink coaster, beverage coaster, or beermat is an item used to rest drinks upon. Coasters protect the surface of a table or any other surface where the user might place a drink. Coasters placed on top of a beverage can also be used to show that a drink is not finished or to prevent contamination.
Why use coasters?
Coasters protect the surface of a table or any other surface where the user might place a drink. Coasters placed on top of a beverage can also be used to show that a drink is not finished or to prevent contamination. Coasters can also stop hot drinks burning the table surface. Drink coasters are also used for advertising, marketing, branding and promotions. Or simply personal use in one’s home or private bar.
How long does it last?
Generally we recommend putting out new drink coasters with each new beverage served.
Once the beermat board becomes too soggy or looks worn we recommend replacing your drink coaster. Avoid letting them dry out and reusing them.
Who uses them?
Resorts, Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Pubs, Clubs, Cafes, Bars, Governments, Councils, Breweries, Design Agencies, Promotional Companies, Public, Weddings, Birthdays, Special Events, Conferences, Printers and Home owners.
What stock are the drink coasters made from?
Beermat board 365gsm 800UM approx 1mm thick is received through Ball and Doggett and sourced from Svanskog Bruk – one of the world’s leading beermat board producers. Situated west of Sweden. The mill is a non integrated board mill with one paper machine built by seven sieber cylinders and with inline sheet cutting.
All waste from production is fed back to be re-pulped. Certified to International standard of sustainability. Their Bleached Beermat Board is the perfect material for printing beer mats (drink coasters). Their board’s bleached cellulose liner gives you optimal printability. Absorbency, which is vital, is guaranteed by the groundwood pulp used in the middle layer also giving the board its desirable low weight. Their wood comes from sustainable forests locally sourced. This stock is certified FSC from the Bureau Veritas Certification – company Savanskog Bruk AB. For more information click here – https://bit.ly/2XKgsJD
Is the material recyclable?
Yes, drink coasters can be recycled.
Is the material compostable?
Yes, drink coasters can be composted.
Compostable means that a product is capable of disintegrating into natural elements in a compost environment, leaving no toxicity in the soil. This typically must occur in about 90 days. Some companies advertise their products as merely biodegradable.
How is your waste managed?
Waste Management
Coaster Kings recyclables include beermat board, metal plates, plastic containers, plastic wrap from pallets, laser printer ink cartridges and anything else that can be recycled.
Beermat board which is our sole paper stock used at Coaster Kings is imported from Sweden from purpose grown plantation forests. It is recycled 2 different ways:
1. All drink coaster skeletons “the board that is left over after the drink coasters have been die cut and popped” are recycled along with any additional office paper waste.
2. Recycled stock coaster. We take print sheet runners, setups and overs and reprint over the top, die cut and pop out as a brand new product to use “Coaster Kings Recycled Stockies”. These are available to purchase at a great price on our website.
At Coaster Kings we source environmental friendly printing chemicals and products to use when printing with little or no impact to the environment. All metal plates are collected and recycled. Our printing inks are vegetable based made from renewable resources such as soy and linseed oil.
